The New Yorker Magazine Exhibit to Visit San Francisco
The Meyerovich Gallery to Host Cover Art Show From March 7th – 21st
An exhibition of classic and contemporary cover art from The New Yorker will be on display at San Francisco’s Meyerovich Gallery from March 7th – 21st.
The exhibit, “Cover Stories Love and Romance,” features more than forty covers inspired by the art world. In its seventy-eight-year history, The New Yorker’s covers have featured many wonderful works of art and social commentary. From the iconic Eustace Tilley to the humorous New Yorkistan, the magazine’s covers are always the talk of the town. Among the artists represented: Charles Addams, Peter Arno, Barry Blitt, Ian Falconer, Rea Irvin, Bruce Eric Kaplan, J.J. Sempe, Edward Sorel, Art Spiegelman, William Steig, and Mark Ulriksen.
Meyerovich Gallery is the exclusive Northern California venue for this show, which will make additional appearances only in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. The tour is sponsored by Microsoft Tablet PC, Cunard, the Cayman Islands, Sharp, Concord, Computer Associates, Citibank, Glenfiddich, Turning Leaf, Siemens, and David Yurman.
The show also includes more than ten original paintings by local Bay Area artists from which the New York Covers were created. Bay Area artists include Mark Ulriksen, Eric Drooker, Owen Smith, Winston Smith, and George Riemann.
Located on the 4th floor of 251 Post Street, the Meyerovich Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10a.m. to 6p.m. and Saturday from 10:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. For more information or visuals please contact Alex Meyerovich at the Gallery
